Laser vein removal

Most men and women will experience redness or visible thread veins at some stage during their life on the facial or body areas. There may be some genetic influence but environmental exposure UVA, UVB and free radicals will contribute and exacerbate the condition.

Fortunately with advances in technology, visible vessels can now be treated and eradicated permanently. An ideal vascular laser gives you the ability to treat even the most challenging vascular conditions successfully. Cutera developed the Excel V laser specifically to address these conditions.

The Cutera Excel V laser delivers the right combination of wavelength, fluence, pulse width, and spot size for effective treatment of many vascular conditions with one system. This is due to the unique combination of two separate lasers in one machine – KTP (532 nm) and Nd:YAG (1064 nm). It means that we can treat the full range of vasculature – from small superficial vessels to large deep vessel disorders. The 532 nm wavelength is ideal for superficial vascular targets including small telangiectasias, cherry angiomas, diffuse redness and port wine stains. The long pulse 1064nm mode is the perfect choice for deeper or thicker vascular treatments including leg veins, periorbital blue veins, hemangiomas and nodular port wine stains. The 1064 nm wavelength provides deeper penetration than 532 nm.

Vascular laser treatments follow the principle of Selective Photothermolysis – the selective destruction of a targeted structure based on the proper combination of parameters. The laser technology delivers precise dosages of energy to each vein, with minimal risk to the skin. During these treatments, light energy is delivered through a special handpiece to the targeted vein. The energy is then absorbed by the blood vessels. The heat/energy absorption causes a thermocoagulation of the blood vessel. The vessel is then slowly absorbed by the body. Protecting the epidermis is a critical element of selective photothermolysis. The Excel V laser uses continuous contact cooling to give greater versatility than cryogen spray and bigger comfort for the patients.

Most clients describe the sensation to be like the snap of a rubber band on the skin as the pulses of energy are delivered through the handpiece. Depending on the size and extend of vessels being treated most clients will see an improvement after one treatment. However it is recommended to complete a course in order to eliminate veins completely.

Laser vein treatments are spaced at four week intervals for the face and six to eight weeks for the body. In most cases 2-4 procedures are required. The skin must not be exposed to the sun for at least a month before the treatment and for 3-4 weeks afterwards.
